“If we can love someone so much,

how will we be able to handle it the one day when we are separated?

And, if being separated is a part of life,

is it possible that we can love someone and never be afraid of losing them?

At the same time, I was thinking, is it possible that we can live our entire life without loving anyone at all?

That’s my loneliness.

Why is the world so cruel.

So relentless.

Whay can’t the world be more forgiving.

More accepting.

More loving towards once another.

Why can’t they see beyond the differences and into their similarities.

Why can’t they just see the love that exists.

Why is it that people have to be adament about their own opinion and perspective and refuse to accept another.

Why can’t there be reasoning?

Why can’t they just see things in another perspectives?

What crime was committed?

What wrong was done?

But just two people in love.

It’s amazing how a movie can raise such emotions and disappointments.

Sweeney Todd

A Tim Burton’s film.

If you have been following his films like Batman, Corpse Bride, Edward Scissorshand, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sleepy Hollow and my favorite, Big Fish, you will find that his films are always very different. Very unique and out of the norm.

The characters are usually pale-faced. Often an outcast. And possess erratic personality and behaviour.

As usual of a Tim Burton’s film, the movie takes on a dark veil.

Be it the plot, music or visual, they complement one another in creating or honing this darkness.

I love how the film manage to make London takes on this dark and mystery tone that is in line with the movie.

Tim Burton also managed to make gruesome things appear normal and as a matter-of-fact thing.

But still i had a hard time swallowing the slashing and with the corpse hitting the ground at such force.

But one thing i really love about the film is the music! The music composition and the orchestra.

By the way, this is a musical film.

And it’s unique because i have never seen a musical film that has a gothic or horror plot.

But don’t expect the singing to match those of broadway as the singing are done by the actors themselves.

But i felt it is actually more apt to have these not-so-perfect singing to match the story.

All in all, if you are a fan of Johnny Depp, you will love this movie. His acting is still as awesome. I like the way he acts with his eyes and expressions. How the character just come alive through his eyes.

And If you are a fan of goth or you enjoy movie that is not so conventional, then you will love this movie!

But if you are not, and you find blood-splaterring disturbing, and you can never appreciate dark humor, then this is probably not a film for you.

I spent the whole of Sunday watching almost the whole of Season 1 of Heroes, 20 episodes to be exact.

Thank God for the marathon on Star World.

The New Season starts showing in our homeland tml and i’m still 2 episodes away from the end.

I just gotta give up for now.

My eyes are simply too tired to continue now.

Hopefully i will find time tml to finish up the 2 and to start on the new season.

The Diving Bell and The Butterfly

Caught this preview today.

A french movie. And a true story.

French movies are always very different.

The movie started with a first-person view, meaning we see it the way the character sees it, literally.

Then we were slowly introduced the third-person view and the movie progresses with an interchange of first-person and third-person view.

By thus, we are introduced to the character’s emotion and thoughts but at the same time, taking a step back to understand the movie and take flight on this journey.

The interplay of visuals as something like methaphor works great, at least i love it.

I thought that the movie is very real.

It explores issues that engages everyone.

Sometimes we get so focused on our limitations that we overlook or kill our potential/future.

The Diving Bell was an entrapment while the Butterfly refers to freedom.

The former being his body and the latter refering to his imagination.

Like the phrase, “let your imagination take flight”.

Let your imagination bring you to a place where you overcome your entrapment or obstacles.

Hence, this movie is an inspiration and reminder to that.

It is also a movie about determination.

Where he wrote a book, letter by letter, through the blinking of his eye.

And the persistence of the people around him, not giving him up.

The movie is also humorous. The dialogues are real and funny.

But the movie also brought to my mind how many a times, we may be putting words or thoughts into another person.

Especially one who is incapable of expressing themselves.

It makes me wonder whether “doing what is best of others” really is best for others.

Are we speaking their voice or our own voice?

Oh by the way, the female characters all look exeptionally stunning.

But i was kinda confused as in who is who since they all look rather the same to me.

Anyway this is a movie that doesn’t stir much emotions but thoughts.

It propels you to think and puts you in a reflective mode.

This is a movie for people who love art films.

For those who wants to be inspired.

Michael Clayton

This is a movie that you will have to concentrate to truly understand.

I admit i wasn’t in the right “condition” when i caught this movie some time ago.

And thus i wasn’t able to fully appreciate the movie.

It was a intellectually stimulating movie, i guess.

As it brings you on a journey in the investigation.

It also put forth many controversies and set you in a mode of “discovery” and questions.

I particularly like the last part of the whole movie.

As i thought there was an element of surprise and understanding.

Where everything kinda fall into place.

What the whole 2 hour was talking about.

Plus the wit, it was cute!

Yea this is a movie for people who likes to be challenged intellectually.

And someone who can concentrate through the whole movie with about 90% just pure talking.

Don’t expect to see actions here.

Perhaps, the most “action” thingy in this film, is people running around, if my memory doesn’t fail me that is.

The Golden Compass

This is a movie that will bring a sense of familiarity yet excitement. It is very much like the fantasy movies that was on screen previously like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia. And i love fantasy films! The casting was great. All actors looks good and i love Nicole Kidman. She looks great, not that she has a pretty face, but she has this character and attitude oozing out of her. Her eyes were simply mesmerizing and not to say her figure. opps! And her acting is great too! I simply love watching films by her and Jodie Foster too! Oh oh, the one who played th queen of the witches love great too! Anyway, back to the movie, yah like Harry Potters, this story has too but the witches are unlike the ugly typical evil witches. Here, they look great and they are not evil. The movie is really like the story of Harry Potter mixed with The Chronicles of Narnia and with Lord of the Rings. Yet the things i dislike are how the story sometimes doesn’t flow well and there is little character development. The ending was also rather abrupt and in all, the feeling is that the movie is rushing all the while. Hence at the end of the day there is limited take-back, other than the controversy about religion. But well, i see it more as an abuse of power and authority. How one authority wanna control everything. However, i must say the visuals were awesome. Not only the cast is good, the set and costumes were great! It was visually very captivating and this really draw me to the film and left a good impression. I really hope there will be more development in terms of plot and character in the sequel. And with that, it also mean i am definitely looking forward to the sequel.

30 Days of Night

Caught this movie a while ago too. A horror movie. Hmm but well it didn’t really impress me. The impression i had of this movie is it’s kinda gloomy and sadistic. Well, if a horror movie is supposed to give that feeling then maybe it has succeeded. I just felt the plot didn’t deliver well, in the sense they overlook certain reasoning behind some part of the story. As at the end, i remember my friends and i came out from the theatre having quite a few questions in our mind. But i must say initially, the movie did scare me (and one of my friend didn’t even dare to bathe after she is back :p), i even jumped out of my seats, but i felt the “stance” were the same throughout. Hence, at the end, you will be like “Oh come on, any other way or method than this??!” But the ending is touching! You see true love in portrayal. How a person is willing to sacrifice for love. That is really LOVE!

What i can say about this movie is, there are definitely better horror movies out there than this.

Caught this film 2 weeks ago. A very light-hearted film that will put a smile on your face throughout the whole show.

Not only does this film mixed animation with live-acting, though not in conjunction, it also mixes quite a few of those typical fairy tales characters or story like Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping beauty. It is indeed a very fairy tale story that you will enjoy. The story will show a distinct between the female lead’s innocence and optimistic outlook in a world of distrust and negativity. You might initially question her and say how stupid she is to hold on to her belief and thoughts but i must say you’ll be brought over to her side very soon just like how the male lead was brought over. I thought the movie actually gives people a sense of hope and the usual about how the good will triump against the evil. And i must say the female lead really did act out that kind of innocence very well as even her eyes speak of the kind of simplicity and innocence.

Oh and by the way, the songs are really catchy too! Ahh ahhh~. It is definitely a movie to watch, regardless of age and gender (girls will definitely love this and many of my guy friends enjoyed it too!). It’s still screening now, so do catch it pals!
